Concrete pumps are an essential part of any construction site. They’re the main equipment used to transfer liquid from one point to another in large batches. Over time, the design and structure of the concrete pump have evolved, but it was only in the mid-20th century that Friedrich Wilhelm Schwing and his company came up with the contemporary design we know today. Before the concrete pump, people used cranes to lift buckets of concrete to transfer it from one point to another. Types of Concrete Pumps

There are various types of concrete pumps that are used today. Each type of concrete pump has a specific purpose and set of specializations that are needed for a particular kind of construction. Here are a few of the most common types of concrete pump:

Static Concrete Pump

The static concrete pump, or stationary, line pump, is mounted on a trailer. It has a separate pipeline attached to itself leading to where the concrete is supposed to be transferred. The pipeline is a series of steel or rubber pipes linked together and manually connected to the outlet of the pump.

Truck Mounted Static Pump

For smaller construction jobs, a truck-mounted static pump may already do the job. They are mounted on a truck chassis but without a boom, making them easy to transfer but fast to execute the task.

Truck Mixer Concrete Pump

Some concrete pumps don’t just serve the purpose of transporting concrete. They can also store the concrete as well. The truck mixer concrete pump is easily used to both transfer and store concrete, making it a piece of more cost-efficient equipment than others. This can easily access the necessary amount of concrete when needed and move it already towards the construction site.
