Tips for Quick Healing After Cosmetic Surgery

Although cosmetic surgery is often not as invasive as heart, liver or some general surgery procedures, many of the aesthetic surgeries involve some cutting of the skin and tissue and all of them require some kind of anaesthesia, whether it be local, local anaesthesia with sedation or general anaesthesia. 1.    Follow the Plastic Surgeon’s Instructions

In this age of information, we can find advice at the click of a button; however, not all advice can be trusted. Hence, you must stick to the guidelines prescribed by your plastic surgeon. 2.    Be Patient

Everybody is different and so the healing process varies from person to person. 4.    Avoid the Sun and the Elements

Sun can cause skin discoloration and damage to the surgical wound, you are advised to avoid the sun for at least the first month. Long exposure to the sun can cause inflammation and scaring. You can go out but wear hats, gloves and sunglasses and avoid direct sunlight and use sun protection.

5.    Avoid Strenuous Exercise

For 4-6 weeks after the surgery, avoid strenuous exercise and the gym. Walking is encouraged a day or two after surgery the body active again. The Plastic Surgeon will advise you when you can return to the gym and your regular exercise regime. Intense physical activity can increase the heart rate and blood pressure, which can cause the newly sealed blood vessels to bleed and bruise.

If you have undergone a tummy tuck or a mummy makeover, avoid lifting children and heavy objects. Even lifting a baby can cause harm to the surgery. In most cases, the patients resume normal work within three to four weeks after the surgery.
