So, What's So Great About 4K?

If your in the market for a new television, it can be difficult to know what you should get. With today's technology, the choices are vast. If you're looking to upgrade your current flat-screen TV, or even if you still happen to be one of the holdouts, you know, the one still using that old tube television because it still works, there's most likely something in your price range. If you haven't made the jump into the Ultra HD, 4K TV world, you're not alone. There are still many who have not done so. Believe it or not, there are still a large number of standard HD televisions out there still chugging away, and you can still buy them new, but there are other factors to consider with the technology of today.

Cost

So, if it's so great, why hasn't everyone gone with 4K yet? - One reason could be the cost. Granted, the cost has come down for HD TV's significantly over the years, but at the same time, the quality and features have been improving. So there is a balance to find between all the bells and whistles, and what you're willing to pull out of your wallet. With all the different features: Standard HD, Ultra HD, LCD, LED, OLED, size, smart TV functions, streaming services, the number and type of inputs, and even the thickness, just to name some, it can be overwhelming for the inexperienced shopper. You can take comfort in one thing: most TVs will give you a much better viewing experience than models from as recent as five years ago. So, whatever you end up choosing within your budget, you most likely will be satisfied with your choice. However, again, the costs are coming down, and you might be surprised to find you can actually afford a 4K television.

Preference

What if I can't tell the difference? - That is the case with many, because they may not have seen a true 4K image. 4K TVs will play whatever quality video you give them, even standard definition DVD quality, which won't showcase the full capabilities of it's display. When you can see a true 4K image on screen, it can leave an impression. Even up close, the individual pixels are extremely difficult to see, which creates a seamless flow throughout the image. The best thing to do is see a demonstration and you may realize what you've been missing.

Availability

So, where can I get 4K programming? - Many services are upgrading so they can deliver 4K programming. There are also many streaming services with 4K movies and shows already available. They will continue to add more, because the market is moving toward it. As more people purchase Ultra HD, 4K TVs, there will be more demand for the programming to all program providers.
