Posted by JulioLicinio on May 20th, 2019

Sometimes the parents don’t understand why their children are facing difficulties in learning simple things. Although they are not having any problem in their daily activities always, in time of learning spelling or mathematics they become lazy and confused. Most of the time, these are the case of dyslexia which is the medical term for difficulty in learning. Julio Licinio, the eminent professor of psychology and Dean of the College of Medicine has assured the parents that dyslexia has no effect on the intellect. He said that it is rather a processing language of the brain.

Dr. Julio Licinio has said that it is very important to identify the early sign of the condition and teach them in a special way which is accessible and understandable by them. The best place to identify the problem is the classroom. So, it is the duty of the teachers also to mark the symptoms among their pupils. If the teachers of your children complain about the symptoms, it is the time to become aware. Now, here we will discuss the signs of dyslexia as guided by Dr. Licinio.

  • Most of the time, the child appears as intelligent and bright but he or she faces difficulty in reading, writing and spelling.
  • The teachers may label him or her as lazy, careless, dumb and immature. For them, the children are not trying hard enough to learn the new things.
  • They may be tested as High IQ in orally but in academic they can’t score well.
  • The children have poor self-esteem and get frustrated easily.
  • Easily lose track of time.
  • Often daydream while studying.
  • They have a lack of concentration or rather difficult to concentrate.
  • They learn better through the hands on experience or demonstrations.
  • They have excellent talents in art, culture, drama, dance, music, sports, story-telling, designing, building and many other creative fields.
  • While reading, they complain about dizziness or stomach ache.
  • Most often the children with dyslexia are confused with the sequence of letters, words or number.
  • They have unusual pencil grip and the handwritings are almost illegible.
  • The children have poor gross motor skills.

According to Dr. Julio Licinio, the parents as well as the teachers should be alert to find out any trace or symptoms among their children and take necessary steps.
