We get an official NBA 2K20 first look

It is that time of the year again where all the major sports games are launching, and today we get an official NBA 2K20 first look. While the 20 second teaser doesn’t reveal much, it does tell us we will be seeing the next legend, next chapter, and next generation of NBA 2K. For the first time in NBA 2K history, NBA 2K20 looks set to feature a full WNBA league, showcasing some of the best female basketball players in the world. NBA 2K20 is already available to pre-order, including a digital deluxe edition and a legend edition, and will be available in September.

As we see in the NBA 2K20 first look teaser, New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis gets the honour of being the face of NBA 2K this year on the cover of the standard and digital deluxe edition. NBA legend Dwayne Wade is featured on the legend edition. NBA 2K20 will run in 4K with HDR on the appropriate platforms, and continues to evolve from previous games. Not much more is known about NBA 2K20, however announcements are expected over the coming weeks about other gameplay modes as well as the new NBA Neighborhood.

The new trailer provides a first look at what NBA 2K20 gameplay will include. Backed by the song Back Up by The Siege, there are the standard highlights of NBA stars in action. We see the trailer open with some virtual highlights of retired Heat star Dwyane Wade, as well as the current stars such as LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, and Kevin Durant. We see a shot of the back of the jersey of Zion Williamson, the New Orleans Pelicans No. 1 draft pick. He is set to be amongst the most hyped rookies in some time. Basketball fans are waiting to see what sort of NBA 2K20 rookie rating he will have.

In totality, Morant will likely be a fun, but flawed player to control at first. I suspect he starts the season rated a 79 overall. That would be quite the compliment considering last year No. 2 pick, the Kings Marvin Bagley III began as a 78, but rose to an 81 by season end. If Morant hits the ground running and can have some success as a rookie, it is easy to see how he could be rated as high as an 83 by the end of the year. Likely NBA Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks began this season rated a 79, but ended as an 87.

Also included in the NBA 2K20 gameplay trailer is a first look at WNBA players. They will make it into the 2K basketball game this year for their first time. WNBA players were a major inclusion in the competing title NBA Live 19 this past year, giving fans the ability to play with all of the teams in their league. The new NBA 2K20 game has an official release date of September 6, 2019. It is currently available for pre-order here.
