Stress is quite a common word for any adult’s life where we synonym childhood as carefree and stress-free time. However, the encroachment of advancement and technology has made this time of life quite complicated and competitive. Not everyone can cope up with this demand of changing society. As a result, most of them end up in childhood and teenage depression and stress. Dr. Julio Licinio is a well known mental health expert working on this field for long. He is the Vice President of the Academic and Health Affairs, Executive Dean in the College of Medicines along with SUNY Distinguished Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry, Pharmacology, Medicine and Neuroscience & Physiology at State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York.

Dr. Julio Licinio is working on the mental health of the younger generation for the last 10 years. He is working on the source of the stress that is creating havoc on the tender minds of the kids. Before reaching the solution, we must look into the reasons to get rid of the problem.

Reasons For Stress Among Kids: There can be many reasons for stress for which your kids can feel low and down. Generally, the stress is not something that begins in the inside of our body. It happens due to some external pressure and solution. There are several factors like our personal life, the expectation around us and many more things.

Dr. Julio Licinio has come up with some excellent reasons that are triggering the mental pressure and stress among the youngsters:

·     Faster Child Development:  Earlier the school was a happy place for the children, but now it has the burden of competition to sustain. After school hours, the kids stay occupied for the homework and preparation for the weekly test.

·     Over-activities: The parents nowadays expect that their kid will excel in every subject. For that, they take their kids to every possible activities center that their schedule is always full and they don’t get any time for relaxation.

·     Media Saturation: According to Dr. Julio Licinio, this is the most hampering factor for the children who are suffering from stress. Depending on technology for everything is not a healthy habit.

·     Bullying: This is a year old problem where the kids who think themselves as superior teas and bully other children of the school. Now with the help of the technology, this practice continues on different social media platforms.
