Ways to Maintain Safety in a Warehouse

When it comes to running an industrial warehouse, keeping personnel, visitors and your equipment safe is a big priority. Not only is this important for the health of your employees and the quality of your products, but creating an environment in which workers feel safe can skyrocket their levels of comfort and productivity. To emphasise this, below are several tools and products that can help boost safety and efficiency levels in your warehouse.

Traffic Management

Traffic management products enhance workplace safety by helping to redirect traffic on roads and footpaths, restricting access to areas where hazards are present. For example, the Warehouse Reflective Cone 1000mm High has high visibility reflective collars and works well both indoors and outdoors with our retractable belts and plastic safety chains. Particularly ideal for use at schools and car parks, this reflective safety cone is U.V. stabilised to minimise fading and has a height of 1 metre.

Furthermore, the T Top Bollard – Stem Only has a specialised LDPE construction for maximum durability. The 12mm stem of this T Top bollard easily slots into both the 6kg Base to Suit T-Top Bollards and the 8kg Base to Suit T-Top Bollards, making for convenience in any environment, warehouse or other.

Barriers

Ideal for limiting access to vehicles, machinery and other dangerous equipment, barriers are great for acting as provisional barricades in pedestrian and traffic control settings. Barriers like our Securite 9m Retractable Belt – Yellow/Black are commonly used to cordon off workplace and public access areas. With the ability to be used in conjunction with traffic safety cones, these retractable belt barriers offer a convenient barricade method for applications both indoor and outdoor. They additionally are U.V. stabilised, a high visibility colour and a length of 9 metres.

Moreover, the Expanding Barrier 3.0m Yellow Black come fitted with castor wheels for easy mobility. You can join this expanding barricade together to create longer runs, making it suitable for use at walkways, driveways, machinery and entrances. It also has a steel tube aluminium slat construction and a powder-coated surface.

Convex Mirrors

Convex mirrors are incredibly useful for providing an added observation point in industrial settings. They function tremendously well at road intersections, car parks, distribution depots, construction sites, driveways and loading docks, as well as in warehouses when using machinery and production lines. Convex mirrors like the Convex Outdoor Safety Mirror – 600mm are incredibly durable and can withstand many weather conditions. Their unbreakable polycarbonate faces have high visibility orange visors for maximum awareness, and they have a PC mirror surface and PP backboard. Additionally, all convex mirrors come complete with post mount brackets to suit a 60mm diameter post and wall mount brackets are available if required.

Guards and Bollards

Attaching guards and bollards to your equipment and machinery can assist in reducing impact from forklifts, trolleys and other moving equipment. Doing so can avoid disasters and accidents, allowing your employees to work safely and efficiently. A useful guard is the Racking Corner Leg Guards, which comes complete with fixings and is designed for corner applications. Powder-coated a high visibility safety yellow, your employees can easily see these guards from far away. They also comply with Australian Standards AS4084-2012.

Moreover, the Racking Leg Guards are designed to protect your pallet racking legs and minimise the risk of collapse due to impact. Fitted with four bolt fixing for maximum security, these racking leg guards are built to be durable and reliable. Like our racking corner leg guards, they are a powder-coated high visibility safety yellow.

Collision Protection Equipment

Collision protection equipment is important to have in order to protect personnel and equipment from collision impacts. For example, the Anti Collision C Strip is a ‘C’ shaped anti-collision strip that works well in warehouses and factories. It is made with soft polyurethane foam and has a peel and stick installation. Additionally, its dimensions are 101cm x 4cm x 0.6cm.

Furthermore, Equip2Go also supplies cable covers such as the Cable Cover – 5 Channel. These safety products protect cables from vehicle damage, providing pedestrians with a safe passage in the process. They are also fitted with a checkerplate pattern for increased traction, a high visibility yellow lid for awareness and interlocking modules for security.

Safety Signs

Safety signs are incredibly useful for redirecting pedestrian traffic due to cleaning or hazards. The Caution Wet Floor Safety Cone 31.1cm x 31.1.cm x 91.4cm – Yellow is a prime example, with its light and versatile design that makes a strong safety statement. Moreover, it is U.V. stabilised to reduce fading and is a highly visible yellow colour. If you wish to connect this safety cone with barrier chains, consider the Barrier Chain to suit Cones 6.1m – Yellow, which can perfectly connect two or more wet floor safety cones.

Dangerous Goods Storage Cabinets

Dangerous goods storage cabinets are a must-have if you store hazardous substances, especially those that are flammable, toxic or corrosive. The flammable liquids storage cages are perfect for storing Class 3 flammable liquids as they prevent and capture accidental spillage. Each unit features flame-arrestor vents and earthing points, as well as double steel walls and adjustable feel and shelving. These fire safety cabinets are also fully certified to comply with Australian Standards AS1940-2017, and come in 100L, 160L and 250L capacity varieties.

Furthermore, the gas cylinder cages are made to store LPG and “G” cylinders. With foldable door handles, pockets for forklift tines and included safety chains, these gas cylinder storage cages can provide a convenient way of holding industrial gas cylinders. They are available in a number of configurations and capacity ratings.

Moreover, our heavy duty powder-coated steel aerosol storage cabinets are the ideal way of keeping aerosol spray cans safe in industrial environments. As each aerosol storage cage is fitted with wide-open area perforations that deliver natural ventilation, these cabinets ensure that your aerosol cans are secure. These cages also have appropriate warning and signage, bolt down plates for permanent fixing and compliance with Australian and New Zealand Standards AS/NZS 3833-2007.

Finally, corrosive goods cabinets safely store substances that are corrosive. These cabinets have anti-spark self-closing doors and adjustable levelling feet for stability on uneven surfaces. Furthermore, there are equipped with built-in flash arrestors and vent openings, clear descriptive safety signs and directions and built-in ground connectors for convenient grounding. These corrosive goods storage cabinets are supplied in 100L, 160L and 250L variations, and are made to meet Australian Standards AS3780-2008.

Spill Kits

Spill containment kits are used in industrial work settings to stay on top of leaks and spills that occur. Three different kinds of spill kits are available, each with their own suitability and specialised spill management tools; universal spill kits for general all-purpose spill control, hazchem spill kits for chemical spill response and oil and fuel spill kits for oil and fuel leaks. With that in mind, all of our spill kits regardless of functionality still contain many similar items, including absorbent pads, absorbent booms, PVC gloves, laminated instructions, colour-coded labels, a global audit tag and either a waterproof labelled PVC bag or wheelie bin to store these products. These spill control kits are also supplied in various capacities.

These are all effective products you can use to increase and maintain safety levels in your workplace. Visit Equip2Go for the full selection of safety equipment.
