And this is because as their pregnancy progresses, due to diabetes are at high risk for high blood pressure, preeclampsia, eclampsia, preterm and prolonged labor, caesarean section and its associated complications.

  • Make A Visit To The Doctor If You Are Planning To Conceive

It is very much important to talk to your doctor to make sure that your general health is fine. Your doctor will ask to get done some tests like sugar test, blood pressure, kidney function, a thyroid test, and an eye test because it can get worse during pregnancy.

  • Exercise Daily

In line with diabetes treatment specialists, exercise will help you metabolize food better. It can keep control of blood glucose and weight during and after pregnancy. Mostly the doctor recommends 45 minutes walk and doing yoga in pregnancy.

  • Control Carbs Intake

Plan a proper diet – what to eat and what not to eat. Think of how much carbohydrate you should take in the meal. Try to limit the amount of carbs you eat because it will raise your blood sugar that can create problems in the future and affect the baby too.

  • Eat More Veggies

Eating green is always a healthy choice for mother and baby both. Vegetables are filled with phytonutrients and provide you fibers, plus they aid digestion and put off excess weight gain. They also have low calorie and are low in carbohydrates, so they won’t have an effect on your blood sugar. Here, lettuce, carrots, cucumber, and broccoli are all good choices in vegetables.

  • Morning Sickness Remedies

Make sure you eat every 2 to 3 hours during the day to keep out nauseousness. A small source of fast-acting carbohydrates such as glucose tablets, honey or fruit juice can help if your blood glucose level is low. Add some Greek yogurt and eggs for protein sources.

  • Bon Appetite

In the first trimester - try to eat fresh vegetables and fruits for good sources of calcium. This can control your appetite and prevent sugar cravings. Avoid fruit juice which is already high in sugar, instead you can eat fresh fruits.

  • Drinks Consumption

Keep yourself hydrated; drink plenty of water during pregnancy. Be sure to avoid juice, soda, sports drink and sweeteners in coffee and tea. Avoid these or substitute them with something that has less in calories and less in carbohydrates because that’s going to be the source of raising blood sugar.

  • Enjoy the Desserts

It’s ok to enjoy the piece of cake or chocolate chips, and cookies but balance the total amount of carbohydrates. If you want dessert, make yourself full of salad first instead of a large piece of cake, which also works as a sweet controller system.

  • Care after Pregnancy

It’s important to consult the doctor, make regular check-ups and control over blood glucose. It’s always difficult to get back into shape after pregnancy; it only happens when you change the lifestyle and eating habits. Don’t worry everything is possible!

According to Dr Anand Srivastava, always keep in mind your good health is essential for you and your baby. So make a healthy lifestyle and seek out for information whenever it is needed. Enjoy your pregnancy period and bless with a healthy baby.
