What Does the Time You Exercise Say About You?

Posted by Reebok on March 18th, 2020

We all know that exercise is essential, but does when you work out make a difference? Just as we all train for different sports and have varying goals, most of us find various benefits to exercising at different times of the day or night. Let’s take a look at the most common times people exercise and what they might say about you.

You Work Out In the Morning

If you exercise first thing in the morning, you’re among the committed. While others are busy getting more sleep, you enjoy breaking a sweat and starting the morning with a workout. For many, they chose to exercise in the morning initially to ensure consistency. There aren’t many excuses not to hit the gym at 6 a.m. besides getting more sleep. Once you shake that off, it’s gratifying knowing that the hard, physical work for the day is done with and you can focus your mind on the rest.

You Work Out Midday

If you work out during your lunch breaks, you’re all about efficiency and making the most of your time. Why would you wake up extra early when you could just take your weightlifting shoes to work and use that lunch hour for the gym? Lifting or running around noon strikes the balance of being fully awake, but not yet tired from a full day of work, and you can refresh yourself for the afternoon.

You Work Out After Work

Working out can be the best way to decompress after a busy day at work. So, if you prefer to hit the gym on your way home, there’s a chance you treat it like a reward. Although to some, pushing their body to exertion might not seem like a treat, you wouldn’t have it any other way. So long as you don’t let any of those tiny excuses enter the back of your mind or care about the crowded post-work gym, after-work exercise beats out happy hour any day of the week.

You Work Out Whenever There’s Time

While others have a set routine, some of us lead such busy lives that working out is often just penciled in wherever it can fit. If this sounds like you, then you know how hectic it can be. One day you’re in the gym at 6 a.m., the next it’s 10 p.m. You practically live in your gym shoes because you never know when you’ll jet off to the gym or go for a run. While it might seem chaotic on the outside, you have your priorities in line and know how to maximize your time as efficiently as possible.

Does It Matter?

At the end of the day (or beginning), does it really matter when you exercise? While there is some science out there to argue about each case, what really matters is consistency and how your body feels. We all operate on different rhythms and work out for various reasons. As long as you’re meeting your goals and feeling good, when you work out is entirely up to you.
