New york Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez told reporters Saturday that he "can't wait to get back" after working out in Tampa, Fla.

It is not known when he will begin a rehab assignment in recovering from hip surgery, but he indicated that the relationship between him and the team is good.

"So far, no issues, " Rodriguez said. "I'm just working really hard. I'm having fun. It's exciting to be back on the field. "

Rodriguez is taking batting practice at the Yankees' minor league facility as he looks to come back from the January surgery. He has also been fielding ground balls, running the bases and participating in sliding drills.

Earlier in the week, Rodriguez tweeted that his doctor cleared him to play, in which general manager Brian Cashman responded angrily. The two talked out the disagreement on Wednesday.

Rodriguez said his relationship with the team is just fine.

"Ready to get back on the field, " he said. "All good. "

Also, shortstop Derek Jeter had five simulated at-bats in Tampa as he recovers from a broken ankle.

---The Cincinnati Reds placed Johnny Cueto on the 15-day DL on Saturday, a day after the 27-year-old was forced to leave his start against the Texas Rangers in the second inning. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, this will be the right-hander's third lat-related DL stint this season.

While healthy, Cueto has compiled a 4-2 record in nine starts with a 3. 33 ERA.

Left-hander Tony Cingrani will shift from the bullpen to the starting rotation. Earlier this year, Cingrani went 3-0 with a 3. 15 ERA in seven starts filling in for Cueto.

---The Arizona Diamondbacks activated closer J. J. Putz from the 15-day disabled list.

To make room for Putz, the club optioned right-hander Zeke Spruill to Class AAA Reno.

Putz, 35, has been out with a right elbow strain since May 7. He is 2-1 with a 4. 26 ERA and five saves in 14 appearances.

---Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Sunday with Class A Rancho Cucamonga, according to ESPN Los angeles.

Crawford, 31, has been out since June 1. He is expected to play two games as designated hitter and two in the outfield. He could join the Dodgers by next Thursday.

When Crawford returns, Andre Ethier could be on the outs or put on the bench with Matt Kemp and Yasiel Puig also manning starting spots in the outfield.

---About 45 major league scouts were in Tijuana, Mexico, on Friday night to watch Cuban pitcher Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez.

Gonzalez, 26, is playing with the Tijuana Toros so he can be showcased to major league teams.

Some scouts said that Gonzalez's price tag could $40 million over four years while others said it could take five years and $60 million to land him.

---The Cleveland Indians called up right-handed pitcher Joe Martinez from Class AAA Columbus and optioned right-hander Matt Langwell to Columbus.

Martinez, 30, is 2-6 with a 6. 23 ERA in 15 starts. He played for the San Francisco Giants (2009-10), Pittsburgh Pirates (2010) and Arizona Diamondbacks (2012).

Langwell, 27, made five appearances for the Indians. For Columbus, he is 3-2 with a 3. 00 ERA with one save in 24 games.
