Advantages of Yamaha MT-15 - Is it a good choice to buy?

Posted by Digital Marketer on December 1st, 2020

Its aggressive riding position has left people's wrists and back wanting a little more practical and not hard on the body. The Yamaha MT 15 on the other hand has something of the same sort. It features upright ergonomics, entitled as a streetfighter looks and acquires the same 155cc motor.

Is it a good option to buy?

Fantastic styling

Just like the new-gen R15 V3, Yamaha has used the design of its premium models right to the entry-level offerings. In this model, Yamaha MT 15 is like a really good looking bike. It gets the blunt features that one is looking forward to.

Good headlamp spread

Lighting setup of the LED headlamps and two overhead LED DRLs. During the testing process, the impressive bright and wide beam is well spread.

Quick on its feet

MT 15 shares 155cc, single-cylinder motor coming with variable valve actuation. This further allows the engine to run two-valve timings. The one for bottom-end grunt and the other goes for the top-end performance.

Not to forget, the VVA does not have to compromise for the low to mid-end performance to acquire better top-end feel. You will be able to ride MT 15 in the 5th gear while you are riding in the city.

Agility

Like the R15 V, MT 15 acquires the same delta box framing in addition to 41mm front fork and a mono-shock unit right at the rear. The shorter trail on the MT 15 comes to well-crafted steer in the city.

Quite frugal

During the testing process, MT 15 presented well fuel efficiency figure of nearly 52 kmpl right in the city while 48.5 kmpl on the highways.

What are the cons of MT 15?

Cramped seat

Swing the leg through MT 15 gets a little cramped up. The reason behind this is that the handlebar is placed very closed to the rider. Pairing it with upright ergonomics and rear-set footpegs, you will be able to find yourself in a superbike riding position.

Awkward switchgear

Yamaha replaced the switchgear with tinier units. The placement of the switches pretty awkwardly places and lets you take your hand off the handlebar grip for operation.

Single-channel ABS

Unlike the R15 V3.0’s dual-channel ABS setup, the MT-15 settles for a single-channel unit. This is a huge miss considering the MT-15’s rather than its expensive pricing structure.

Stiff suspension setup

The suspension setup of the bike is firm that aids in the spirited riding where when you come across imperfections at slower speeds. Rear suspension gets stiffer on the other end.

Overall, MT 15 looks impeccably well. It has sets of positives and negatives. The deal-breaker factor is MT is just fewer parameters away from R15. Coming to the other objectives and upgrades, there are colour variants as well as the sportier feel and outlook of the bike that will crave for your attention.
