Electricity is one of the important inventions of humankind. It gives power to every device we see in our daily lives. It also helps to connect two countries through transmission lines. Electricity has played an essentialrole in technological and scientific development. Moreover, without electricity, you cannot produce aluminium, and this particular material is crucial for making power transmission lines.

This conductor is mainly designed from aluminium-magnesium-silicon alloy that has high electrical conductivity. The ACSR Moose Conductor for transmission lines contains magnesium silicide. Magnesium silicide has good physical properties.

Material

The exterior region of the material is designed of pure aluminium, and the interior part of the material is composed of steel. Steel has high tensile strength compared to aluminium, and it provides additional support to the conductor. Galvanising is an effective treatment that helps extend the life of the steel and thus protects it from corrosion. Types of conductors that you can easily find in the market are enumerated below:

AAC

The amount of sag per length is more when compared with other conductors, thus offering low tensile strength. You will get an average conductivity with this type of conductor.

ACAR
The conductor is a blend of many aluminium alloys, which helps make a good transmission conductor.
One of the best parts of this conductor is that each conductor element is similar in size and shape. The conductor has great mechanical and electrical properties.

AAAC

As the name suggests, this conductor has similar properties to AAC. This conductor has no sign of steel, and therefore it is a lightweight conductor. The strength of this conductor is the same as the ACSR Rabbit Conductor. Besides, the amount of sagginess per length is low, and therefore AAAC is suitable for transmission lines.

ACSR
ACSR conductors are made up of pure aluminium, which offers high conductivity and are best-suited for overhead transmission lines. As the name suggests, this material is reinforced with steel.

Conclusion

Therefore, you are now aware of different kinds of conductors. The above information will help you select the right conductors for your work.
