The properties and damage factors of refractory material for aluminium making

Damage factors:
1.Melting temperature. The higher the melting temperature, the lower the viscosity of molten aluminium, which makes it easier to penetrate into the refractory material, that means molten steel is with higher erosiveness in high temperature;
2.Alloy type. The adding and adding quantity of alloys such as zinc, magnesium, silicon could affect the reaction ability of molten aluminium;
3.The using and type of agent of fusion. When using agent of fusion, the service life of refractory raw material will be shortened, the seriousness is differ by different type of agent of fusion;
4.Besides, the level of operation could also affect the service life of refractory material.
Properties:
1.Low porosity. When the refractory material is with lower porosity, less molten aluminium would penetrate into the pores and the reaction between them will be less;
2.The distribution of pore sizes. Small pores should be comparatively more, if the average pore radius is over 0.5-1μm, the erosion resistant performance of refractory material to molten aluminium will be remarkably reduced;
3.Choose the right refractory raw material and change the composition of minerals properly;
4.Add anti wetting agent;
5.High strength.
