Key Issues

Miami-Dade County is faced by illegal activities that are characterized by increased selling of drugs. The high level of illegal businesses is conducted along the city strips. The city is characterized by crimes which include drugs trafficking such as sales of narcotic drugs, smuggling of illegal aliens as well as human sex trafficking operations.  The region is also characterized by increased social problems such as prostitution, drug and substance abuse, reckless driving along the streets, poor sanitation, pickpocketing and hijacking of vehicles and passengers (Johnson, Maguire, & Kuhns, 2014). The area is a black spot of deaths resulting from the exchange of gun shots among rivals. The county has turned into a disposal point where dead bodies are disposed after being killed.

Root Causes of the Problems

The main cause of the problem is the high level of corruption within the region. The region registers highest circle of corrupt government officials especially in the Department of Police. Miami police department office is headed by greedy officers whose main operation is to participate in the top scandals such as smuggling of cocaine (Rothstein, & Eek, 2009). Drug trafficking is implemented at highest rate by police commanders and security leaders who are ranked at the top. They are involved in crime activities either directly or indirectly. The abuse of power by police constables, commanders, and juries has contributed to persist illegal smuggling of drugs along the cities of Miami.

The another root cause of criminal activities is a lack of enough security within the region. Department of Police has failed to embrace the virtues of security maintenance within the region causing the level of crime and socials problems to increase. Most of police are participating in accomplishing crimes liaising with criminals within the city. Police departments have formed alliance with criminals in the region to ensure that they have accomplished illegal activities leading to destruction of law and justice. Criminal are allowed to continue with illegal businesses by supporting them through giving false witness.  Abuse of office and lack of law and order has led to increased illegal activities within the area.

Possible Solution

The lasting solution that can promote peace and legal operations within the area includes educating the society about legal and civil education. The society should be made aware of the consequences of illegal trades to the economy. Issues such as effects of drug and substance abuse should be made clear to the society by highlighting the major effects of drugs such as heroin. The society should be enlightened about dangers and consequences of corruption in the region. Campaigns to fight corruptions should be started to ensure that entire society takes initiative of fighting against corruption. The society should take lead in eradicating the police officers associated with corrupt activities (Johnson, Maguire, & Kuhns, 2014). The training centers where security officers are trained should include teaching police officers on methods and strategies of dealing with corruption.

The government should take control of commercial and trading activities taking place within Miami County. Licensing of business activities should be enforced to ensure that only legal operations are taking place within the area. Sources of drugs and substance abuse should be bared and made illegal. The government should formulate policies that ensure proper legal procedures are implemented in ensuring that all operations (Rothstein, & Eek, 2009). Law and order should be enforced through ensuring that justice is applied in every concept.

Another solution includes the creation of job opportunities to various groups within the society. Youths, women, and physically disabled individuals should be given jobs. Projects and development plans for youths should be started to ensure that every person is busy and engaged in community development strategies to promote growth and development in the society. Funds should be allocated to youths to start legal businesses (Day, & Weitz, 1977).

Recommendations

Due to the problems highlighted the society is highly affected in terms of poor health, poor living standards, and lack of developed economy. The society, Leaders and county government in Miami should take the initiative in promoting living standards of people living within the city. The mission to promote legal business should be enforced to ensure that complete methods and methodologies regarding effective management have been enforced. The major action that should be focused is creating new opportunities for jobs as well as better and reliable sources of income. Illegal business such as prostitution, drug trafficking and commercial business conducting similar trades should be closed. Individuals involved with corruption, smuggling and drug dealers should be considered guilty, get prosecuted, and sentenced for jail.
