1. What is the issue or problem is identified in the video? Can you identify the stakeholders?

            The major issue identified in the video is the state of the healthcare system in the United States and the need to have fundamental changes. Many Americans are uninsured making the health care system ineffective and broken to meet the health needs of the citizens. The system has failed Americans and leaves many of them underinsured and at risk of bankruptcy. Their employer assists many Americans in covering the health insurance since they cannot afford it.

            The stakeholders in the health care sector in America include the patients, physicians, employers, insurance companies, pharmaceutical firms and the government.

2. What health policy covered in this course does the issue/ problem relate to? Can you identify or propose a solution?

            The health policy covered in the course and related to the problem is that of fragmented, incremental, and piecemeal reform in health care. The reform identifies that the role of government with the private and public approaches to health care results in a complex and fragmented financing structure. The reform specifies the distinctive insurance coverage for the employee, aged, the poor, and the special population. The fragmentation in the way health insurance is handled is the route of the problems in the health care sector. The solution to the problem would have universal health insurance coverage where the government directly subsidizes the poor. The strategy helps to limit inequality in the health insurance coverage.  

3. Identify how this issue/problem relates to, or impacts pharmacy practice as a provider of patient care?

            Pharmacists get drugs from the manufacturing companies and prescribe them to the patients. However, with the rising costs of health care, it is challenging for them to fail to provide the required medications to the patients knowing well that they cannot afford. Pharmacists are the providers but are limited by the ability of the patient to cover the expenses especially without a reliable insurance provider.
