How to use Water Softeners and Fridge-Carbonators?

Posted by Filter For Fridge on October 30th, 2019

Water softeners are devices capable of eliminating the calcium and magnesium ions present in the water we use at home.

Water softeners connect directly to the domestic water system and, through an exchange process, remove positively charged ions (those of calcium and magnesium, sometimes even iron), exchanging them with minerals such as sodium and potassium.

The drinking water that flows from our taps and that we normally use for food and domestic purposes is often full of limestone residues and other crystallized mineral salts. Materials that over time can accumulate in the pipes and coils of the appliances until they are seriously damaged.

Indeed, 'hard' water is deposited in the plants, creating incrustations that undermine energy efficiency and the cleaning capacity of washing machines and dishwashers. They obstruct pipes, taps and valves, compromise the brilliance of the dishes and make the laundry gray, opaque and hard.

What's more, the limestone dissolved in the water we use for personal hygiene damages the hair, dries the skin and creates annoying deposits on tiles, tubs and shower trays.

The water softener represents, in this sense, the most practical and efficient solution to overcome all these problems. It can soften domestic water by depriving it of excess calcium and magnesium. The water softener, in effect, guarantees the supply of calcium-free water.  Safeguards the proper functioning of water systems and appliances with considerable advantages from the energy point of view and for the maintenance of our appliances.

Advantages?

Softened water is safe and good to drink and offers many benefits. Although deprived of calcium and magnesium, it is not at all poor in natural minerals. On the contrary, it contains all the natural minerals we need, but it is deprived of calcium and magnesium.

In addition to not damaging the coils and taps, finally, the softened water also allows to reduce the consumption of detergents up to 70% and to use shorter washing programs.

Using a water softener allows you to get a cleaner and softer laundry, shiny crockery and no scale deposits on the surfaces, nor inside the pipes. Considering that the limestone obstructions can affect the efficiency of the boilers, the average energy savings for hot water heating can be estimated at around 15-20%.

Lastly, softened water increases the efficiency of solar heating systems, air conditioning units and many other applications based on water use.

Note well: since the amount of sodium (salt) needed to soften the water is directly proportional to the hardness of the water itself, in areas with very high amounts of calcium it is not advisable to use softened water for the preparation of milk for newborns since the amount of dissolved sodium would be too high.

Fridge-Carbonators.

The frigogasatori are equipment for the microfiltration and the supply of drinking water at room

temperature, refrigerated and carbonated.

The frigogasatori do not modify the content of mineral salts naturally present in the water and allow the supply of water:

  • microfiltered at room temperature
  • micro-filtered fresh
  • fresh and carbonated micro-filtration

The refrigerators fit harmoniously into any home or office environment.

The water coming from the network is micro-filtered passing through an activated carbon filter which helps to reduce suspended solids, unpleasant tastes, chlorine residues and traces of disinfection by-products (eg, trihalomethanes), perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), pesticides and herbicides.
