Gender analysis assignment

Pg 67

 1. The road sign includes human icons which signify school crossings. Through sign A shows the masculine gender role. The crossing sign illustrates the female girl wearing a dress and she is being lead across the road by the male counterpart. This symbol indicates the masculine traits of the man being the protector. The gender message, therefore, compliments the American stereotype and social expectations.

 2. Sign B is also a gendered figure showing the male and female figures dressed in appropriate attires. The figure, however, shows that the woman is in charge and is older than the male. The relationships between them could be one is the mother or older sister and the other is the son or younger brother respectively. The gender message in this image contrasts the social expectation that the man should be the one leading the way.

3. Sign B passes the message of a close relationship between the figures of a brother and a sister while Sign A is an indication that the man is showing the woman the right direction. Their designs are also different regarding color and shape. They also fail to communicate the same message since Sign B we get the message School which is not present for sign A.

4. The image that indicates gender is the toilet sign images which compliment the social expectations.

Visual message

All 23 flavor just ten manly calories. It’s not for women. Dr. Pepper 10 bold calories

1. Dr. Pepper’s Ad Campaign shows us what can happen when it fails to take the whole audience into account. There are motivations for the brand to bring about matters of sex and gender into marketing. Dr. Pepper’s new Ad Campaign try to pass the message that this is a boy’s only club, and women should get lost.

 2.

The ad has the appeal that women and men should have their dominations to themselves and men are in search of such a culture that they can call it their own. For many years the borders around so much territory have been in domination for many of years and have been blurred by identities and inclusiveness of some parts of the community that have to fund their voice over the last one century. Inclusiveness is part of the day’s order, and it's deeming when Dr. Pepper uses it as an overtly exclusive message for this Ad.

3.

The branding tone is to articulate the deep desire that men have for boys only area and in doing so, the product finds an appeal to its targeted audience. How it is a wrong desire to focus on that finally resulted to the campaign ad missing its mark. Another subtle branding like Heineken and Dos Equis which are powerful because they define masculinity by saying what it is and associating the brands with epic figures of masculinity.

 4. The case of Dr. Pepper limits its message by defining masculinity on what it isn’t and further undertaking melodramatic associations to action heroes of one dimension.
