The sanctum was placed in the game

In a recent Q&A with Sqaure Enix, some staff members working on the game explained why they plan on adding this feature after the game is released. When creating a world, they wanted to implement as many realistic elements as possible, and marriage is one such element. The sanctum was placed in the game where players’ characters can get ffxiv gold, even though the feature will not be accessible from the beginning.

Sqaure Enix also mentioned the possibility of including same gender marriage in the game and felt this is to be an extremely controversial topic that has been under discussion in the MMO world for the past few years. Sqaure Enix would like to start out with opposite gender marriage first, and would later make a decision based on player feedback. They are not sure whether or not it will be possible at this point, however, they would like to communicate openly with players as they deliberate the matter.
